Hadrian's Wall - Edge of the Empire (Lost Treasures of the Ancient World).
This documentary describes the building of Hadrian's Wall in England. The Roman Emperor Hadrian ordered the building of the wall to secure the outer reaches of the Roman Empire in northern Britain during the second century. The wall is an engineering marvel, built of millions of tons of stone. It was fashioned so that there was a lookout tower every one-third of a mile for the entire 80-mile length of the wall, as well as 17 forts interspersed along the way. Another unique feature was the placement of a kitchen and barracks for a garrison every one mile of the wall. The wall remained in use until the 5th century. Set in a beautiful landscape, the Hadrian Wall is a tourist attraction today.
